Here is a list of the most common items to check before you call for service
  1. Be sure the emergency switch is on
  2. Check all fuses and circuit breakers
  3. Be sure the thermostat is set 5 degrees or more above room temperature.
  4. Check to see if the water is a t the proper level (Steam Systems only)
  5. Check the clock thermostat to see if it is advanced or slowed according to time changes
  6. Push the "reset button" on the burner. (Only Once) If burner fails to ignite, turn emergency switch to (off) and call Dominick Fuels service department

You heating unit should be serviced once a year to keep it working at peek efficiency. Tragar performs tune-ups from April through September. We have extended hours for evenings and Saturdays.

Yes, this could be a sign of the unit not performing correctly. We should come and service the unit at your earliest convenience.

Most likely you have air in your system. You need to have us purge the air out of your system. Or call us and we may be able to advise you over the phone.

The pipes expand and contract when they are heated and cooled. Most likely what you are hearing are the pipes rubbing against the wood in the walls and floors. After they have been expanded the banging stops. Of course this is until the next time the heat comes on and the pipes are expanded again.

Most above ground tanks have tank gauges attached to the top of the tank. To test a below ground tank, just call and ask us. If you are on automatic delivery, we almost know your tank to the gallon.

The rule of thumb for in ground tanks installed prior to 1985 is 15-20 years. It depends on the surroundings of the tank. A tank sitting in water will most likely fail before a tank in dry ground.
